Rotary Club of Austin Honored with 17th RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award

RecognizeGood is proud to honor Rotary Club of Austin with our 17th RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award!

Rotary Club of Austin has supported the Austin community since it was established in 1913, contributing to and supporting numerous youth-oriented programs. With approximately 225 business and community leaders as members, the Rotary Club of Austin is able to make a huge difference in the community, raising $130,000 to $180,000 annually. The Rotary Club of Austin has supported many organizations including BookSpring, The Helping Hand Home, American Youth Works, Council on At-Risk Youth, Iraqi Children’s Fund, and Rise Up Against Hunger. The club also screens and awards approximately $50,000 in scholarships to college bound and graduate degree bound students. The group provides staff and funding to support the Early Act/First Knight Program (EAFK) at Dawson and Pecan Springs Elementary Schools, a program that teaches elementary school children values and ethics in an interactive manner. Additionally, Rotary Club of Austin supports Camp Enterprise, an annual program teaching approximately 120 high school juniors how to become entrepreneurs. With the presentation of this award, RecognizeGood gives Rotary Club of Austin a heartfelt THANK YOU on behalf of the entire community.

Matt Ache, president at award sponsor iRex Group, presented the organization with several thank-you gifts – a $250 donation, an award plaque, two tickets to the 2018 Ethics in Business Award luncheon, and a pay-it-forward donation to Mobility Worldwide in the club’s name. A PET (Personal Energy Transportation) vehicle has also been donated in the club’s name. This recognition represented a sincere “Thank you!” from the Central Texas community for an amazing display of selfless service from the entire group at Rotary Club of Austin.

The RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award recognizes the selfless community efforts and philanthropy of Austin-area service clubs through length, magnitude or impact of service – by highlighting “special” organizations and telling their stories, we believe that others will be inspired to make our community a better place. Award nominees may be sent to, and are voted on by a selection committee according to the following criteria:

  1. Length of Service
  2. Magnitude of Service
  3. Special One-Time Event
