Ethics in Business & Community: Year Three

For the last two weeks we have been sharing about the inspiring different business, nonprofits, and individuals who have been awarded during the annual Ethics in Business & Community awards over the last 10 years, and today we want to highlight our third year recipients! We held our 3rd annual ceremony  in 2004, with awards given in the following categories:

Business

Grande Communications – Grand Communications “is a Texas-based broadband communications company that offers a full suite of Internet, TV and Phone services for residential and business customers. Like the Texans we serve, we’re proud of our independent, ‘can-do’ attitude that has enabled us to serve over 140,000 customers in communities big and small across Texas.” Grande Communications is also involved in philanthropic efforts, using their resources, funds, volunteers, and service to support events and activities in the local communities. Grande reaches out to non-profits and schools as well as civic and neighborhood groups. They sponsor and participate in initiatives such as local festivals, partnerships in education, youth activities and neighborhood cleanups. Grande works to help local residents strengthen the sense of community and connectivity within their neighborhoods.

Nonprofit

Goodwill Industries of Central Texas – The mission of Goodwill Industries of Central Texas (GICT) is generating lifelong connections to work. Goodwill’s Workforce Development Department serves Central Texans with barriers to employment achieve self-sufficiency and reach personal career and education goals. Goodwill envisions a world in which everyone has access to meaningful work. GICT strives to help community members build independence, foster healthy families and create strong communities. Every day Goodwill helps 5 Central Texans find a job in our community.

Individual

Marian Dozier – Owner of Austaco, Ltd., a franchise of Taco Bell Corporation. Austaco has been in business for over forty years. The Dozier family established their restaurants in 1968 on the foundation of hospitality, quality, service and cleanliness (HQSC). Their mission is to take care of people on both sides of the counter (their employees and their customers), and live by their motto “Here to Serve.”
