Tiffany Huerta has been a volunteer with B.I.G. Love Cancer Care (BLCC) since 2023, dedicating almost 250 hours of her time planning activities, talking with, and helping children who have been diagnosed with cancer work through their journey. Tiffany spends her time coming up with fun activities for children to help them to not only better understand their cancer diagnosis but be able to still enjoy being a kid. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the resources to support them can be limited, but BLCC’s mission is to make every child going through a cancer diagnosis feel loved, supported and most importantly be as comfortable as possible!

Since the start in 2007, BLCC has made it their mission to ease the childhood cancer journey for patients and their families through personalized care. Today, their impact reaches more than 100,000 patients and their families annually, offering over 12 service-based programs at 10 Texas hospitals, 52 weeks a year. They provide care kits, toys, deliver healthy meals directly to patients and their families in the hospital as well as providing families with financial support during this difficult time.

Tiffany has greatly helped to advance the mission at BLCC and has dedicated so much of her time to these children all while being a full-time master’s student! She is currently studying to be a Child Life Specialist, to be able to help children and families suffering with an illness full-time once she graduates. “Her heart and dedication is evident in her volunteer work,” says BLCC board member Cindy Fitchpatrick. “She plans activities for the children and teens in SibStrong, that are not only therapeutic but also lots of fun. She is helping these children who are impacted by childhood cancer to grow, to build resiliency, and to heal.” Tiffany is truly a beacon of light for the clients at BLCC, bringing them joy during what can otherwise be a difficult journey.
