Founded by Rose Smith in 2014 when she saw a need in her Austin community, Black Women in Business is an organization dedicated to developing the self-confidence, sisterhood, and success of entrepreneurial black women of all ages. Their mission is to unite, educate and inspire businesswomen to excel – by 2017, the organization had grown and established roots
outside of Austin with chapters launched in Killeen, San Antonio, and Dallas. In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic created a widespread panic and Black Women in Business saw a rising need for food support in their communities. In true entrepreneurial spirit, Rose started the Black Women in Business Community Food Relief Program on March 16th, 2020, through which food drives were created, fundraisers were hosted, and delivery services were provided
for seniors and at-risk individuals. The model is 7 days per week food distribution and volunteers have served continually, every single day, for nearly six years.

Despite the ambitious goals, and without any government funding, over 250,000 families have been served through the Community Food Relief Program. The work done at Black Women in Business is full of nothing but love and dedication, and they’ve left a huge impact on the Central Texas community!
