RecognizeGood Spotlight: Kay Gooch and the BookSpring Read-A-Thon!

Gullett Elementary School in North Austin kicked off another year participating in BookSpring’s annual Read-A-Thon last week. Reading started on Monday, January 28th and will end on Friday, February 8th. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise donations, and read as many books as possible, until the competition ends. All proceeds benefit BookSpring, an Austin-based nonprofit organization. BookSpring instills children and their parents with a love of reading and promotes books as a means to success. Kay Gooch and the Gullet Geckos will be defending their title from last year when they raised more than $25,000 to benefit the BookSpring!

Kay Gooch is the librarian for Gullet Elementary, and was actually the very first Legend of RecognizeGood! She was awarded in April, 2010 for her tremendous effort in raising funds for BookSpring, and inspiring students to read.
