The Links, Town Lake Chapter Presented with 22nd Lighthouse Award

RecognizeGood is thrilled to honor the Town Lake Chapter of The Links, Incorporated with our 22nd Lighthouse Award!

The Town Lake Chapter of The Links has been of exemplary service to the Austin community for 31 years. The 100% volunteer organization was chartered in April of 1988, and aims to promote sisterhood among their members while providing service to their community.  These dedicated women are enriching Austin’s education and culture through partnerships with education and mentorship organizations for young women and children, including a $20,000 annual scholarship to a student in need. Their support is also extended to students at ACC and Huston-Tillotson University. In addition, they routinely sponsor the welcome reception for the African American Book festival. The Links’ mission is to impact those who are dealing with life challenges as a positive influence, especially for young girls who might not otherwise have the opportunity for education. They tirelessly donate over 4,000 hours of service each year and raise $60-$100,000 annually to support the AISD- Bertha Sadler Means Young Women’s Leadership Academy, the Central Texas Food Bank and their backpack program, as well as NAMI Austin (National Alliance on Mental Illness).  They frequently will take AISD students in their program to the theater, most recently to the Nutcracker.  In the past they have taken students to see Hidden Figures and Black Panther. Volunteers from The Links mentor and support an NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) Jr. chapter, along with other local STEM initiatives. They serve meals at Ronald McDonald House Charities every month. And most notably, they recently welcomed a family from the Congo through Refugee Services.  They are proud to announce that they will be adding an international scholarship in their next program year. They live true to their motto: “Linked in Friendship, Connected in Service.”

In recognition for their selfless community efforts, RecognizeGood Executive Director Joel Coffman presented the organization with an award plaque, a pay-it-forward donation to Mobility Worldwide Austin in the club’s name, a $250 donation to their continued service efforts, and two tickets to the 2019 Ethics in Business Awards luncheon. These presentations represent a sincere “Thank you!” for an amazing display of generous philanthropy from the entire group at the Town Lake Chapter of The Links.
