Austin Downtown Founder Lions Club receives Lighthouse Award

The Austin Downtown Founder Lions Club (ADFLC) received the RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award.  ADFLC is the oldest continuously-operating Lions Club in the WORLD. They dedicated almost 100 years to the service of humanity through the spirit of Lionism and community outreach programs. “Founder Club” is a term of recognition by Lions International. It recognizes those clubs represented at the formation of the international organization at its first convention in 1917. Matt Ache, president of iRex Group, Ltd. presented chapter president Lilly Gilligan with an award plaque, along with a donation to PET-Austin in the club’s name. A big THANK YOU goes out to the Austin Downtown Founder Lions Club for its incredible longevity in service to the Austin community.

The RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award recognizes the selfless community efforts and philanthropy of Austin-area service clubs.

By highlighting “special” organizations, we believe we will inspire others to make our community a better place. Award nominees may be sent to lighthouse@recognizegood.com, and are voted on by a selection committee according to the following criteria:

  1. Length of Service
  2. Magnitude of Service
  3. Special One-Time Event

This isthe third RecognizeGood Lighthouse Award for an Austin-area service organization. Previous award winners include Sertoma of Round Rock and Rotary Club of Lakeway / Lake Travis.
