In 2002, Amy was introduced to Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas through a partnership her sorority, Chi Omega, had with the organization. After the introduction, she volunteered at a few events – then in 2008 attended the volunteer Wish Granter training where her heart was forever changed. Wish Granters are the Make-A-Wish volunteers who get to meet with children and learn their one true wish before it’s brought to life. So far, Amy has granted more than 40 wishes for local children with critical illnesses, and has no plans to stop any time soon. Experiencing a child’s reaction firsthand is what keeps her coming back to volunteer. “Wish Granters are a little like fairy godmothers,” Amy gleams. “We are volunteers who sit down with a child and their family to help uncover one very important thing … their one true wish! Then, after the Make-A-Wish staff work their magic behind the scenes, we get to come back and reveal that wish. I can tell you, there is nothing like it! It is a life-changing experience.”
Last Friday evening, RecognizeGood joined Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas at their Texas Chi O x Make-A-Wish fundraiser where we presented Amy with the Legend Award on stage, right before they granted a wish!
