With over 1600 volunteer hours and more than 350 mentees through Foundation Communities, Miguel Stoupignan has shared his knowledge in a huge way by teaching financial literacy that leads to a better life.

Miguel Stoupignan began in 2013 to volunteer with Foundation Communities, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable, attractive homes and free on-site support services for thousands of families from different walks of life. Since then, he has helped lead and train countless new volunteers during his team serving on FC’s Volunteer Leadership Team (VLT). The Foundation Communities Tax Help Program is designed to help people file their taxes, and half of the program’s volunteers are new each tax season – the VLT is a great help in training and educating these volunteers to help those in need get access to the accurate information and guidance they require.

Volunteer lead is just one of many roles that Miguel fills for Foundation Communities. In addition to training new volunteers, Miguel has been a financial coach, prepared taxes, and taught money management classes in addition to fundraising for the organization.

“As a Financial Coach, Miguel provides 1:1 mentorship that meets the needs of individual clients,” says Jackie Cuellar, Director of Corporate & Volunteer Engagement at Foundation Communities. “He is one of our most popular coaches and is especially committed to ensuring Spanish-speaking clients receive quality services.”

Miguel was also integral to forming a scholarship through the Consulate of Mexico in Austin that awards $1000 annually. To date, the scholarship has been awarded to more than 60 Latinx high school seniors across Central Texas.

“Miguel has been an asset of immeasurable value to our programs and our clients,” says Jackie. “He is truly one of our most treasured volunteers.”
