Letter from Legend for Life: Steve Barclay
Amit2024-02-08T16:55:52-06:00Hi!
I’m loving retirement and am blessed to have added two great-grandsons to my family, ages one and two. We’re celebrating my 75th birthday this weekend. We have a lot of fun together and I’m very proud of them.
I’m still driving weekly for the Central Texas Blood and Tissue Center and doing apheresis every other week. I’m now only two units away from donating 35 gallons. Most of my time is spent serving the Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary). I am the Deputy Commander for Seniors in the Pegasus Composite Squadron at Camp Mabry, and Communications and Professional Development Officer for Group V (twelve squadrons), Texas Wing. I’m due for promotion to Lt.Col. in June.
For the last 20 years, I have been volunteering for my wife’s (Megan Biesele) non-profit organization, Kalahari Peoples Fund (www.kalaharipeoples.org). 2013 is their 40th year anniversary. Megan, a cultural anthropologist, is now starting an advisory group of scientists and academics to assist her locally.
In my “let down time” I read, work jig-saw puzzles, build model planes, and play Luminosity games to improve my mental capacity. (I know. I need to do more of that. Ha!).
I really appreciate RecognizeGood. Being a recipient is a sincere honor. The concept is terrific, and one I certainly agree with. I am honored to participate any way I can. Please, never hesitate to call on me any time.
Kindest regards,
Steve Barclay
