October 2014 Legend: Terri Sue Bettis

Through her work with the Brighter Days Food Pantry in Leander, Terri Sue has helped serve over 195,000 meals to more than 34,000 people – and counting!

RecognizeGood: The Foundation will present the RecognizeGood^® Legend award to Terri Sue Bettis, volunteer for Brighter Days Food Pantry, in a ceremony to take place at Leander Church of Christ, 300 Crystal Falls Parkway, Leander TX 78646, beginning at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2014.  As part of the presentation, Brighter Days Food Pantry receives a $1,000 pay-it-forward donation from RecognizeGood in Terri Sue’s name.

For many years, Terri Sue has served her Leander community in roles ranging from homeschool teacher to board member. Throughout it all, one thing has remained the same – her strong belief that she is called to serve her neighbors. Led by Terri Sue since 2011, the Brighter Days Food Pantry served an estimated 195,000 meals to over 34,000 people. All in a town of less than 30,000 people.

Terri Sue’s true impact may be measured more appropriately by that empowering effect on fellow volunteers. In addition to her time with the Brighter Days Food Pantry, Terri Sue has donated her time and talents as a volunteer for the Navy Relief Society and a volunteer ombudsman for the USS Lincoln. She is a board member and co-director for the Eagles Homeschool Group, founder of homeschool-training nonprofit organization Counting the Cost. Terri Sue is also the director of Higher Ground Ministries.

As a 2014 Legend, Terri Sue is now eligible to participate in RecognizeGood’s annual Say Thanks Austin campaign. This annual event presents the Austin area with the opportunity to say “thank you” to a group of remarkable individuals. The participant with the most Thank You votes receives a pay-it-forward donation of $10,000 to the nonprofit of their choice.
