Over the past decade, Don Saegert has completed more than 15,000 trips with Drive a Senior ATX, dedicating nearly 12,000 hours of his time as well as completing home maintenance projects for seniors in need and spreading smiles everywhere he goes.

Since March 2013, Don has provided an astounding 15,661 trips and services, covered 140,156 miles, and generously and selflessly given 11,883 hours of volunteer time to those served through Drive a Senior ATX. Beyond getting behind the wheel, he often makes extra stops to pick up prescriptions or deliver packages, going above and beyond for those in need. Says Operations Manager Charis Fleming, “He’s not just a driver! He’s a kind-hearted soul full of compassion and love for his fellow man. Don is someone we all admire, look up to and celebrate.”

Don has been hitting the roads with unmatched dedication since March 2013. As a former Austin postal worker, Don knows the city of Austin inside and out. He carefully escorts clients to medical and other necessary appointments with the same care and precision he once applied to handling Austinites’ personal correspondence, navigating the city like no one else can. In addition to offering rides, Don helps many of their clients with needed yardwork or minor home repairs too – services to help keep our local seniors safe around their home. The staff often marvel at his tireless energy and unwavering smile. As a matter of fact, the staff recently Knighted him, now referring to him as “Sir Don.”
