RecognizeGood Spotlight: Wine From The Heart

Sunday, October 28th, 2012, The HeartGift Foundation will be hosting their 5th annual Wine from the Heart Dinner & Auction to raise funds for children who suffer from congenital heart disease, live in the developing world and have no access to treatment.

Founded in 2000, The HeartGift Foundation has provided more than 160 lifesaving heart surgeries for children from 24 countries. They have chapters in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and New Orleans. Children and a caregiver are brought to one of these chapters for surgery to correct life threatening heart defects. These children come to the states because their home countries lack adequate health care and ley leave with repaired hearts and a new sense of hope for the future. HeartGift also recently opened a new chapter in Fort Worth, and have successfully helped their first child, from Haiti.

The Wine from the Heart Dinner and Auction is an extraordinary event. The evening will include cocktails and light appetizers followed by a lovely wine dinner and live and silent auctions. The auctions will offer rare and collectible wines, art, travel opportunities, restaurant packages, dinner parties, and many shopping delights. Cocktails and Registration begin at 5:00pm. For more information about the event, feel free to view their website!

Dr. John D. Oswalt, along with Ray Wilkerson and Jim Hoover, created the HeartGift foundation. Dr. Oswalt was recently awarded the Ashbel Smith Distinguished Alumnus Award from U.T. Medical Branch in Galveston, a tremendous honor. Dr. Oswalt was also honored as RecognizeGood’s December 2010 Legend, and you can find out more about his Legend ceremony here!
