SAFE Alliance Volunteer Frankie Fowler Honored For Her Impact

For 35 years, Frankie Fowler provided more than 26,500 hours of volunteer services to countless numbers of survivors and community members through her work for the SAFE Alliance.

RecognizeGood honored Frankie Fowler of the SAFE Alliance with the 62nd RecognizeGood® Legend award in a presentation at the SafePlace Resource Center (1515-A Grove Blvd, Austin, TX 78741), beginning at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 9th, 2016. During this event, RecognizeGood made a $1,000 pay-it-forward donation to the SAFE Alliance in Frankie’s name.

For 35 years, Frankie Fowler provided more than 26,500 hours of volunteer services to countless numbers of survivors and community members through her work for SafePlace, a partnership agency of the SAFE Alliance. She worked in the shelter and as a voice of hope to callers on the hotline. Frankie engaged youth in presentations on healthy relationships and preventing domestic, sexual and dating violence. Additionally, she volunteered at community events to raise funds and awareness of these issues. In all she does, Frankie teaches that love is about equality and respect. She has imparted this message to thousands, which they take with them and share with others. She helps break cycles of violence, and teaches tools that work to build healthy and thriving individuals.

Frankie is a role model and hero to all for her service, mentorship and commitment to our community. In fact, numerous other organizations have honored her as an exceptional volunteer and leader in the community. She was honored for her amazing service to SAFE at a reception held in the home of longtime domestic violence advocate and SafePlace Foundation Board trustee Luci Baines Johnson in May 2011. During this time, SAFE Alliance staff and board honored her with a ceremony in her honor and a brick with her name placed at the entrance of the SafePlace Resource Center. To recognize Frankie’s legacy of service, in 2006, the SAFE Alliance created the Frankie Fowler Volunteer of the Year Award. This honors volunteers who reflect Frankie’s outstanding service and motivation to help address and prevent abuse.

As a 2016 Legend, Frankie is now eligible to participate in RecognizeGood’s Say Thanks Austin campaign. This annual event presents Central Texas with a unique opportunity to say “thank you” to a group of remarkable individuals. The participant with the most Thank You votes receives a pay-it-forward donation of $10,000 to the nonprofit of their choice.
