Wayne Glander Presented with 73rd RecognizeGood Legend Award

Wayne has delivered over 250,000 books to children and families since he first began volunteering with BookSpring.

RecognizeGood honored Wayne Glander with the 73rd RecognizeGood® Legend award in a presentation at BookSpring Offices (2006 Greenbrook Parkway, Austin TX 78723) beginning at 2:00pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. During this event, RecognizeGood made a $1,000 pay-it-forward donation to BookSpring in Wayne’s name.

Reading is truly a fundamental part of our lives. It helps us communicate, improves our memory, and exposes us to the wonders of imagination. One man is making a huge difference in the lives of countless Central Texas children by making sure they have access to books, and he’s having fun doing it. Since retiring, Wayne has volunteered thousands of hours of his time to local literacy nonprofit BookSpring, and has delivered close to a quarter million books – all while wearing a festive hat decorated with two stuffed beavers that earned him the nickname “Justin Beaver”. Wayne has done a lot more than deliver books over the past 10 years, pitching in with BookSpring staff wherever he can and proving weekly to be an incredibly dedicated volunteer.

As a 2018 Legend, Wayne is now eligible to participate in RecognizeGood’s Say Thanks Austin campaign, an annual event which presents Central Texas with a unique opportunity to say “thank you” to a group of remarkable individuals who contribute their time and talents to our community. The participant with the most Thank You votes receives a pay-it-forward donation of $10,000 to the nonprofit of their choice.
